JUNE 12, 2007 - Tuesday - Dodgers vs. White Sox - City Center - White Sox Win 15-5
This was a very strange game for us as a team. At the end of 3 innings the score was 5-6 with the White Sox leading. We were back and forth with both teams hitting well and fielding plays being made. Then came the change of pitchers in the 4th inning on the part of the White Sox and our offense was shut down.
This was a classic lesson that a pitching ace can make the difference in a game. A hanging curve ball that comes directly at your head that then cuts across the plate for a strike, followed by a fast ball that is about 15 to 20 miles per hour faster than the rest of the pitchers on either team makes all the difference.
With the Dodgers doing nothing on offense and the White Sox continuing to get the usual hits, we soon found ourselves down by 10 runs with a 15-5 score. The hour and 45 minute time limit arrived and the umps quickly called the game over. To say that we were stunned by the last 35 minutes of the game is an understatement. We actually felt like we were in the game, yet we were really blown out of the water. The final score is embarrassing, yet when we were hitting we exposed weaknesses all over the field on the part of the White Sox. The difference this night was their ace pitcher.
So let's make some lemonade out of a tough game..... I took some great photos of Jeremy and Nathan pitching, as well as Zach, Julian, and Adam. Just click on the images for a larger view.
