THURSDAY, APRIL 26 - At 9 PM all of the 11/12 and 13/14 coaches met at the home of Greg Perkins. Uniforms were distributed. Rules were discussed. Umpire treatment was also discussed. In no particular order here are some of the high notes.
REGULAR SEASON - This is the time for coaches to teach, boys to learn, and for everybody to have fun!
TOURNAMENT - The tournament will end by June 30th. Please plan your major trips and Scout Camps after that time.
ALL STARS - The All Star team will be quite selective with there being just 12 boys per league forming two teams.
BASEBALL BATS - We are allowed to use big barrel bats up to 2.75” in diameter.
PITCHING COUNT - Little League has a new publication that lays out the pitching rules for young ball players. I have the PDF on this site. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD. In the 13/14 league a pitcher can throw 95 pitches after 3 days rest.
KEEPING COUNT - The home team is responsible to count all of the pitches in a game and track them for both teams.
BALKS - Greg Perkins offered to secure and distribute the official Little League DVD on balks.
BALL FIELD PREP - Orem City will once again prep the fields on game day.
HOTLINE NUMBER - There is a new number but it has not yet been shared.
APPEALS - The league will not recognize mid season appeals. The normal season is intended to let the players play and have fun.
GAMES - Games will be 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration or 6 innings, whichever comes first.
GAME LOCATIONS - Games will be played at the Orem City Center and the south field at the Windsor softball fields.
GAME TIMES - In our league all games will start at either 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM This is different from the younger leagues that will start at 5 PM and 6:45 PM.
UMPIRES - For this league umpires will be 18 and older.
UMPIRE COMPLAINTS - Don’t get on the umpires. The coach is also responsible for the fans of their team.
DUGOUTS - The new fencing design has left the dugouts wide open at the City Center. This will soon be resolved, but until then please have all non-players and coaches stay out of the dugouts. This includes brothers, sisters, other relatives, and girlfriends.
BACKSTOP TARPS - This year tarps will be hung on the back of every backstop to prevent further umpire harassment from the parents to the umpires and the opposing team. It is a sad step to have to take, but after last year it was deemed necessary. Parent, please exhibit good sportsmanship.
