Michael Wicklund, from Washington, loves the color purple when it comes to business. Everything he has related to Sterling Inspections is purple. When he came to us and made his request for purple, we promptly complied. The following is the full color email that Michael sends out to his entire agent email database on a bi-weekly basis.
You will notice that the email is filled with links that take readers to the full news story and to Michael Wicklund’s website. Clicking on the link to read the full story takes the reader to a special MLC webpage that is set up to mirror the inspector’s website.
INITIAL SETUP FEES

SETUP FEES - $300.00 - This includes the setup and design of the email and personalized web page templates. You will need to decide on the color scheme and then provide the following:

  • 1) Your Photo - Please make it a friendly photo because this entire process is geared around getting you face time with your agents. This should be at least 3”x3” in size and preferably in electronic format (jpg, gif,, tiff, eps).
  • 2) Company Logo - This should be at least 3”x3” in size and preferably in electronic format (jpg, gif,, tiff, eps).
  • 3) Company Website & Business Info - If you do not have a website then we will design a specialty web page for you using your desired color scheme.

PLEASE NOTE: The setup fees are non-refundable after the setup process has been started. Setup fees are also subject to change at any time.

REFUND POLICY: There are no refunds on 1 and 3 month subscriptions. 6 and 12 month subscriptions can be terminated at any time on a pro-rated basis with a maximum 50% of the subscription fee refunded.

PERSONALIZED EMAIL FEES - WE EMAIL 4 YOU

BI-WEEKLY EMAIL TEMPLATE FEES - WE EMAIL 4 YOU - There are some clients who prefer to have us email for them. This could be due to limited band width on their current email account, or just because they don’t want to hassle with the process. In order for us to provide you this service you will need to send us your email data list (CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS).

Once we have your email list, then we will prepare your new email every other week and then send it to your email list. The fees are based in 500 email increments. The more agents that your message is sent to the more that you will pay for the service.

FAQ’S - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT CAN I PERSONALIZE? Looking at the Michael Wicklund email you will see several different sections. The initial setup includes the personalized header and footer. These never change unless there is something major needed to keep current, like a new website. Now look at the topic bars, the info beneath them can be changed by you as often as you like. The one that you do not control is the initial HOT TOPICS section. The Hot Topics article and subsequent web page are developed by MLC and are merged into your email and your personalized MLC newsletter web page.

WHAT IS THE KEY FOCUS OF THIS MARKETING? FACE TIME - Look back again at the Sterling Inspection email above. You will see Michael Wicklund’s face and color scheme the moment the email is opened (FACE TIME). Carrying on with that theme please look at the personalized web page. You will see that it is divided into three horizontal sections by design. The top is fixed so that the inspector is always the focus of the page (FACE TIME). The bottom bar remains on the screen and allows the agent to get inspection ordering information. The middle section scrolls to allow the reader to view the content of the informative article. It is hoped that the reader enjoys the entire article and starts to associate good home inspection information with the featured inspector in the top bar on the page (FACE TIME).

WHAT ABOUT SPAMMING LAWS? - You will need to check your local laws, but the general rule is that sending email to people in your industry is okay as long as you allow an opt out clause at the end of the email. The real estate industry is one set up where networking circles are key to a real estate agent‘s success. Only a small percentage of agents will want to be removed from your network list. Most are glad to receive regular inspection industry updates. Some will resist asking to be removed from your notification list for fear that you will ever send them prospective clients?

WHAT ABOUT EMAIL FILE SIZE? - Large emails are more expensive to send and often rejected as spam. Full color emails with images could easily be too big for easy emailing, so we host all of the optimized graphics on our MLC website. This makes the email very small at 15-40kb. When the client opens the email the graphics are then filled in from the MLC website.

WHO IS BEING MARKETED? Your inspection firm will be getting the majority of the press with each issue. The only reference to MLC in your personal email and on your personal web page will be a small text link at the bottom of each with the words MLC Internet Newsletters. This will allow them to find us if there is either a compliment or complaint.

IS IT EASY TO SEND YOUR OWN GROUP EMAILS? Sending your own emails to groups is easiest if you have an email program with group emailing capabilities. Those of you who view your emails online will probably have to come up with a third party mass emailing solution and then figure out how to configure it with your ISP. Call your ISP email provider and ask them how you can best accomplish the mass emailing task. Some ISP’s limit your email account to 250 outgoing emails per day. Others are as few as 250 per week. Good providers offer upgrade options (for a fee) to allow the added email traffic that you need. Those of you who need to send your emails to more recipients than your ISP will allow should consider our “WE EMAIL 4 YOU” service option.

The most popular program that allows mass emailing distribution lists is Outlook. Outlook requires you to set up distribution lists from the contacts folder. Once the distribution lists are created then the rest of the process is very straight forward.

SAVING THE MLC PERSONALIZED MESSAGE AS AN OUTLOOK DRAFT

  • 1) Receive the personalized email from us highlight it in your INBOX.
  • 2) Once highlighted select FORWARD from the Outlook bar.
  • 3) When it opens then strip out the forward info at the top of the email.
  • 4) Remove the FW: from the subject line.
  • 5) Close the window by clicking on the black X in the upper right corner of the email window.
  • 6) Outlook will prompt you to save the email and you should select “Yes”. This will save a perfect copy of the email in the DRAFTS folder for you to use any time that you want.

SENDING OUT THE EMAIL

  • 1) Highlight the message in the DRAFTS folder.
  • 2) Select FORWARD and it will open up in a normal email window.
  • 3) Type your address in the TO: line.
  • 4) Click on the CC: box to open the SELECT NAMES dialogue box.
  • 5) In the dialogue box select the BCC: icon in the MANAGE RECIPIENTS box at the lower portion of the window. Then select either the names or the distribution list that you want to mail the email.
  • 6) Now verify the following:
    • a) Your email address is in the TO: line
    • b) The CC: line is blank
    • c) The emails and distribution lists are in the BCC: line.
    • d) The Subject line says what you want it to say - Make changes as you see fit.
    • e) Check the email to see if there are any informational changes that you want to make. This is where you might add a current special of the month or regional tip.
  • 7) Hit send and they are off!!!

WARNING: Do not add the distribution list to the CC: line or else every recipient will see the entire list of people to whom you sent the email. Instead, use the BCC:, which stands for Blind Carbon Copy and the list is concealed from the view of every recipient. It is important for you to address it to yourself on the TO: line and your recipient list on the BCC: line.

WHAT FORMAT SHOULD EMAIL LISTS BE SENT? The most trouble free format for us to receive the email lists is .csv. This can be done by exporting your email list to Excel and then saving the list as a .csv and forwarding the file onto us.

WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY WITH OUT EMAIL LIST? We will neither sell, rent, or give away your list to any other inspector to use to market in a similar area. They will need to provide their own email database.

WILL YOU SELL PERSONALIZED EMAILS TO OTHER INSPECTORS IN MY MARKET? Yes. But each inspector’s email would look unique to them including color schemes, logos, and inspector photo. If you would like an 30 mile diameter exclusive, then you may purchase an area for $2,400 per year. We do not encourage this because we think that each inspector’s email will be unique enough to allow for multiple inspectors in a marketplace to use our service. Over saturation is a “High Class Problem” that we have not had to deal with. As time passes we may have to reconsider this approach.
