Thanks for your interest in my trial report form set. The downloadable file will self extract into your machine. It is a limited use, non-modifiable form set that will allow you to use the form, do an inspection, and yes even print out a report for your client. This form set is designed to let you know what I provide, but it is not personalized to you like a purchased form set will be. Follow the directions and have fun experimenting with the 3D system and my form sets.
WINZIP
In order to load the attached program you will first need to have
a file unzipping program installed on your machine. This program
allows for files to be compressed smaller for easier transmission
on the internet. Then they open the file and put it where they
need to be on your computer. I recommend the free WINZIP program
available at http://www.winzip.com. The version that you receive is the
temporary trial version, but it turns out that you can use it
forever for free since the time never expires. For occasional
users this is the best option. For somebody like myself it is
better to spend the $80 and get the full version and take advantage
of the more advanced features. This software is the one needed
to open the file TRIAL.EXE that I provided here for you to download.
After Winzip is installed it needs to be opened and then restart your computer. If you already have winzip on your machine you can continue to the next step.
ATTACHED FILE OPENING
Double click on the attached file and it will cause Winzip to automatically open. When it ask you if you accept the term click on I Agree and the attached folder should self-extract to the 3D folder. Some systems save the .exe file on the desktop of in a temporary file. Wherever it is stored it needs to be double clicked on to open up and self extract automatically to the right folder. Once it is finished you should open the 3D Inspection software and perform the following steps.
OPENING A REPORT
Go to the 3D Report Writer and click on FILE, then NEW. A window will open that allows you to name a report and select which form set to open. Select the report form named ACE32PP to open a new report. The computer will then tell you how many uses of the report form you still have. The Trial report form is a full functioning report form, but you cannot modify it like you can when you purchase your personalized set.
BACKGROUND DOCUMENT
Once you have opened the report you need to select OPTIONS, then REPORT LAYOUT. On this screen you need to select a new BACKGROUND DOCUMENT. Click on BACKGROUND DOCUMENT and find the file called Top.w3d. Once you select it you should see it next to the BACKGROUND DOCUMENT button. Next you should delete the name next to INDEX DOCUMENT and the line next to INDEX DOCUMENT should be blank. The Top.w3d file is modifiable and I recommend that you do the following.........
MODIFYING THE HEADER & FOOTER
Go to the word processor
and open up Top.w3d. Once it opens you will notice that the screen
is blank. Now click on VIEW, then HEADER & FOOTER. This
will change the formatting of the screen and let you see the header
and footer. Notice that it is my Michael Leavitt & Co header
and footer.... make the needed
changes and then save it with your information. If you want new
logos, then got to the 3D help and look up how to input graphics
in the word processor...... This takes some practice. Remember
that what is on the TOP.w3d header and footer will be on the top
and bottom of every page in your report.
LAYOUT SETTINGS
While you are still looking at the REPORT LAYOUT window click on FILE, then LOAD A REPORT LAYOUT. You should select the file Michael 2-2001.LTP. This changes the settings so that the printing layout looks like my sample reports...... This is modifiable.
From there you are set to go. There are obvious printer settings, but you have probably already messed with them while playing with you sample demo disk.
I look forward to preparing a custom form set for you. If you have questions you can call me at 801-225-8020.
